1974 Islander 36 - new engine - refit

Hunter 40 waiting for you at the dock ......   Priced to sell, only because of a change in family plans, after much money, work and thought in fitting out and upgrading. A real opportunity to purchase a great sailing boat, at a very motivating price.

This boat was in storage inside for several years, before being purchased by the last owner. He has put much work into upgrading and refitting the boat for their long term cruising plans. Much was done, and the boat is almost ready to go.

The overall condition of the boat will strike you even before you enter. The hull looks very good, and the bottom is ready to launch. The deck and cockpit are all in very good condition. The T-shaped cockpit is salonroomy and easy to work. She has wheel steering, with all newer electronic mounted at the helm.

As you go below, you will again be pleasantly surprised. Lots of room, and all of the cushions have been recovered. It looks and feels like a much newer boat. The first thing that you will notice is that the entryway has easy entry via stairs, instead of a "ladder" like most boats.

Starting forward in the vee berth, you find a very large berth that a filler cushion. In the very bow section, there is access to an anchor locker. Shelves are built in along both sides of the berth. Under the berth on each side, you find 3 drawers and a cupboard with a drop-down front. The starboard side also has a nice hanging locker. Overhead there is a large opening hatch, and with opening ports on both sides, the light and ventilation make this a very comfortable space.

Next aft you find the very spacious head to port. Manual head with holding tank, sink with pressure water, a sump for a shower (not currently installed), and lots of storage. There is an opening port, and a mirror.

Across from the head is much more storage, with 2 large cabinets with louvered teak doors for ventilation of the contents. Another opening port is above the cabinetry.Salon looking aft

Moving aft, you are now in the salon. The salon features 2 settees, one on each side of the salon. The starboard settee is designed with a backrest that lifts, to form to "bunk beds" for guests. The port side makes a comfortable single berth. The table is unique. It folds in half (back on itself), and then slides sidewards into the cabinetry. When the table is extended it is very large and great for entertaining. The port side of the salon (behind the settee) also have storage cabinet along the entire length with slotted teak doors for ventilation.

To port and at the aft end of the port settee, you find the nav station. Here is the VHF radio, lots of storage and the stereo. Behind the nav station is a comfortable quarter berth.

Across from the nav, to starboard of the companionway, is the U-shaped galley. Wrapping around from the companionway, first there is a deep S.S. sink with hot and cold pressure water. Next in the corner is the large icebox with refrigeration. A microwave is also mounted deep in the cubbyhole, with more storage next to it. Turning aft along the starboard side, is lots of counterspace including the space where the stove used to be. Storage is behind the whole space, and under as well.

The companionway itself give easy access to the new engine. The top stepVee berth lifts up for those quick checks, and the middle to steps lift off for more access to the front of the engine and all 3 batteries. The side of the engine compartment is also accessible from the side of the quarterberth with a removeable panel.
