1997 Beneteau 381

 The Oceanis 381 is a performance sailing yacht which corresponds well to Beneteau's philosophy on cruising. The standard mainsail is roller furling, making it easy to sail and control from the cockpit.

The furling drum for the genoa is positioned above the deck so that the area around the windlass is uncluttered and easy to work.. The shroud chainplates are well centered, guaranteeing an efficient sheeting angle while also making it easier to move around the sidedecks, and the primary (self-tailing) winches are within an arm's reach of the helmsman.

The large cockpit has a steering wheel console,mainsail track moved forward on the coachroof, molding for the extra wide dodger, sunbathing area forward, and a recessed windlass in the large anchor well. This 381 is laid out in the owner's version with two large double cabins and large galley aft and to starboard. This gives an exceptionally comfortable saloon for 6 to 8 people with natural lighting and ventilation systems. The cabinetry is in cherry stained mahogany and the lockers are fitted with cane work doors.

The owners also fitted the companionway with a new set of "starboard" doors, making entry and exit easy. As you descend, around to the right is the roomy galley. All of the way aft is a huge front opening Adler Barbour refrigerator, next to a top opening freezer. Above the refrigeration, the microwave is mounted, and you will find additional storage. As you move forward along the starboard side of the boat, There is even more storage,with vented sliding doors, along the whole galley. You find more counter space, then the double S.S. sink, then the gimbaled 2 burner Eno propane stove with oven. Lots of light and ventilation, make it a very comfortable galley to work.

The whole salon area of the boat is open and bright, with lots of ventilation. The boat features lots of opening hatches, and overhead skylights. All with shades for privacy and shade. To starboard you will find a generous settee, which wraps around the dining table. On the side of the table closer to the centeline of the boat, is a bench seat for your guests, which also has a huge storage space under it. Across to port, there is another single settee. You will be amazed at the amount of storage all around the boat.

Moving forward, next you find the forward stateroom, with a pullman berth set to port. The storage locker to starboardas you enter the stateroom, has a lifting lid that hides a private vanity for the stateroom. The berth is so comforatable, and to port at the base of the berth, is small settee, great for getting dressed or just relaxing, and next to that is a hanging locker for your cruising needs.

Going aft along the port side, at the aft end of the settee is the aft facing nav station. It is the electrical center of the boat, with room for an additions that you might desire.

Next aft and just to port of the companionway is the head with shower. Light, bright and easy to use and clean.

And behind the head is the huge aft stateroom. Another hanging locker, and again room to dress in private, the stateroom features a huge athwartship berth. As always on this boat, there is lots of light, air and headroom, making this berth very comfortable.
