Sails & Rigging The gaff rigged, deck stepped sail plan has 397 sq. ft.of sail area giving her an easily manageable sail plan in any weather, with the ability to have great performance in the lightest of winds. She has Schaeffer Free Flying roller furling on both the staysail and the jib, running backstays for headsail tensioning, single line reefing from the cockpit for both thefirst and second mainsail reefs. She also has a main, jib, staysail, topsail,asymmetrical spinnaker, storm jib and storm trysail. Mast is stepped on the deck in a substantial, stainless steel tabernacle. This is supported Stainless Steel compression post. The mast, boom, gaff and jackyards and bowsprit are douglas fir. Mast is hollow from the hounds down to reduce weight. A wiring chase accommodates VHF and nav light cables. The mast can be quickly and easily lowered and raised by a couple. All spars and the bow sprit are spruce finished in Sikkens Cetol as is the teak deck trim and rubrails. Peak and throat halyards are led aft to the cockpit through rope clutches for ease of handling. Mainsail is built with 3 reefs. The main, jib, staysail and topsail are all in cream dacron by Rockall Sails, supplied by the builder Cornich Crabbers. The Asymmetric spinnaker is an Easy Passages flasher with a "sock" by UK Sailmakers in NY (built in 2004). The storm trysail is by Thurston, and customized just for this vessel. Deck & Hull Full keel with cut away forefoot. Hull is solid laminate with isophthalic gelcoat. Keel hung rudder, with 3 blade bronze prop protected in an aperture. Interprotect epoxy applied when boat was originally commissioned. Deck in balsa cored with marine ply in high stress areas, like under the mast tabernacle. Hull to deck joint is both bonded and mechanically fastened. The bowsprit is easily retractable for docking or storage. This unique feature allows greater maneuverability, smaller docks where desired, and less expensive storage. Suunto compass, Lifesling MOB system. Delta FastSet anchor with 200' of chain and nylon rode, Danforth as a second anchor with 200' of chain and rode. Self draining cockpit, midship cleats and stern cleats for mooring. Very good condition. Bi-color nav light on mast, all around white anchor light at masthead and white stern light. 3 step Stainless Steel telescoping boarding ladder folds flush on rear deck.
