1996 Catalina 400 for Sale
A great boat with great equipment. Generator, Windlass, Reverse Cycle heat and air, Full cockpit enclosure, full Dutchman system with full battens and car system, Adjustable Garhauer genoa cars system. 2 staterooms and one with a centerline walk-around bed, 2 heads and an incredible refrigeration system. With her wing keel, you can get in smaller harbors, and with her newer sails ... you get there quickly.
The layout on this boat is one of the best I have seen. WONDERFUL aft stateroom, with walk around bed. Two great heads. Spacious salon with great head room and reverse cycle heat and air. All in a boat that is a great sailing vessel. Always fresh water.
Starting aft, the master stateroom is ideal. A walk around over sized centerline berth, with room for you to get in and out of your own side of the berth without crawling over anyone. Room to stand up and get dressed, room to sit on the edge of the bed ...Tons of storage. Hanging lockers on both side, lots of shelves and cabinets. A great boat for cruising, or living aboard. There is a custom innerspring mattress by the Handcrafted Mattress Company new in 2000. New custom sheets for both the fore and aft staterooms new in 2010.
The passageway from the aft stateroom to the salon is along the port side of the vessel. The aft head is accessible along the passageway, either from the privacy of the aft stateroom, or from the salon for guest access. There is room for a shower area, and a separate shower sump. Light and bright with good ventilation.
Moving forward and to starboard of the companionway is the U-shaped galley. Well designed with lots of accessible storage and plenty of usable Corian counter space. Starting from the left, there is a built-in trash receptacle with a cutting board for the cover. Then near the centerline, you have two roomy, deep S.S. sinks with hot and cold running water and faucet with spray head. There is storage underneath.
Moving towards the outside you will find the very large refrigerator, freezer with both top opening and front opening access. The refrigeration system is top end with dual, independently controlled cold plates in each of the compartments. The temperature in the refrigerator and freezer are independently adjustable. There is also an optional water cooled assist for the refrigeration that you normally only see in boats in the Tropics. It makes the refrigeration much more efficient and cools down the system faster. The refrigeration compartment also has both a top opening and a front opening door, so no longer do you have to hang upside down to reach the bottom of the refrigerator.
Next to clockwise is the gimballed, 3 burner Princess propane stove with oven, with a custom cutting board for the burner surface for additional counter space. Above the stove is the built-in microwave with rotating tray. All along the side wall and above the sink are built in cabinets and shelves for all of your dining and entertainment needs.
Next around is a large deep storage bin for those large items and cooking tools, followed by a roomy open countertop for working with storage both above and below. Lots of drawers and cupboards. The standard storage cupboard on the bulkhead has been added to, with a second level for even more storage. The "seawater" pump has been removed and replaced with an undersink Whirlpool filtration system for water.
Across from the galley and to port is the nav station. There is a comfortable and secure swingout seat for the navigator. The radar, chartplotter, VHF with RAM mike and generator controls, Stereo and all of the AC/DC electrical controls for the boat are all centrally located here. There is also a securely mounted flat screen 22" HDTV with great viewing from the salon or galley.
Moving forward is the salon. With a luxurious wrap around U-shaped dinette to starboard, and a large settee to port .... there is room for your largest gathering. The table can be lowered to convert the dinette into an additional large double berth. There are lots of opening ports, overhead hatches for lots of light and ventilation. All of the hatches and ports for blinds for room darkening, and screens for the ones that open.
There is (again) more storage along both sides and under the settees. This is a great space. Lots of light, lots of ventilation and a very comfortable usable salon.
Next forward and to starboard is the guest head. The head is accessible privately from within the forward stateroom. There is a shower with sump, and light and ventilation.
Foward is the guest stateroom. A spacious vee berth. A private hanging locker, shelves along both side
and enough comfort for discriminating guests. There is a large overhead
hatch, and multiple adjustable lights.
New cushions and a new Tufted Topper in 2010 make this a great guest stateroom with comfortable sleeping.
