Sanfilippo Music Museum
This is the gracious entrance to the family's personal music museum. This building is part of a complex built to house one passionate man's collection of antique music machines, phonographs, pipe organs, steam engines, clocks, antique gaming machines and more various items than you can possibly imagine.
This staircase is in a different area of the building. The place is a like a wonderful maze with more delights to discover around every corner and in every room. In this picture we are on the second level. In the picture below we have ridden the wrought iron elevator with a stained glass ceiling to the third level of this section of the building.
This is the lower level ........ the seating area actually faces the pipe organ and stage for intimate concerts. On the second level there is theater seating for approximately 100 people.
The pipe organ. There are pipes on both sides of the room and the entire wall behind the curtains. We were allowed to climb *inside* the pipes while the organ was playing. Simply amazing. At least five levels of pipes and assorted musical instruments that are integral parts of the organ.
The view from the upper level of the grand staircase. The elevator is to the left. The grand facade on the landing is a Mortier dance hall organ.
Another view of the two balconies showing organs on both levels.
Just one of many, many organs ..........
One small corner of one of several connecting rooms with an amazing collection of antique games and player and reproducing pianos. Plus a huge bar for entertaining that I somehow did not get a picture of .........
Just one of many games, with opposing armies shooting across the river at each other.
Just a small part of the incredible collection antique lighting though out the building.
Then on to one of the out buildings........ and functional running steam engine with coal car and Pullman car. Notice the large overhead door in front of the train. There has actually been build a small section of track so the the train can actually be run!! Space around the entire estate are the most interesting collection of steam engines. All in operational conditions, most actually running for the day.
Inside the Pullman
Car, and below looking out the window to the Carousel
Then through the entrance to the carousel .........
All completely restored with real gold leaf ........... the only time the Carousel was rope of was when it was actually operating.
A tractor for Hank ............. I wonder which one he would choose?
Dan Gordon and his kids ..............
mechanical instruments such as large orchestrions, carousel organs, reproducing pianos, automatic violin-playing and banjo-playing machines, clocks with musical attachments, musical toys and novelties, the familiar player piano, and many more.
